SYDNEY MR. LEATHER COMPETITION 2023

Welcome to the Sydney Mr. Leather Brotherhood! We hope you are excited about competing. We're delighted that you're interested in being part of the resurrection of the Sydney Mr. Leather competition. This competition is proudly brought to you by Sydney Leathermen in partnership with the previous title holders and produced by Haus of Savvy.

This is a competition for men who love, live, and breathe leather! The judges are not looking for the prettiest face, the hottest body, or the sexiest outfit. They are looking for individuals who fit the description of a 'Leatherman' to best represent Sydney's diverse leather kink scene'

"The winner is not necessarily the handsomest face, or the most muscular body, but rather the man who best typifies 'The Ideal Leatherman', a man whose command, presence and sense of self communicate that special quality we celebrate as Leather." Chuck Renslow, one of the founders of IML.

Are you our next Sydney Mr. Leather?

1. Gender: Male (anyone who identifies as male).
2. Residency: Contestants must be a permanent resident of Australia and reside in NSW. You must show proof of residency via identification which displays your home address in NSW (proof of age card, driver's license, or passport) when you lodge your contestant registration.
3. Age: contestants must be 21 years of age or older, on or before the 30th of April 2023. To verify your eligibility to compete, you must supply verified photo identification which displays your birthdate (proof of age card, driver's license, or passport) when you lodge your contestant registration.
4. Consent: to and without further consent, restrictions or approval for the Photographer, Videographer, Website Developer, Sponsors, Sydney Leathermen and Sydney Mr. Leather producers, to use photographic images and/or video footage of them to be displayed in print, social media, electronic formats, in-house and external marketing.

1. Attend a series of events and interviews prior to the competition and after the competition.
2. Available for photoshoots at any time, during any event you are required to attend. Must sign a model release via our competition entry application form. All images to be used by Sydney Leathermen, Sydney Mr. Leather competition producers and sponsors in their marketing.
3. Monday 13^th February 2023 @6pm / Studio Kink
4. Thursday 2nd of March – SLM Leather Social - Informal Pre-Competition Meet & Greet (optional, appearance encouraged)
5. Friday the 3rd of March - Sydney Mr. Leather Competition, from 5.30pm (compulsory)
6. Sunday 5th March – Victory Celebration @Stonewall Hotel, min 3 Hour Appearance (optional)

Are personally expected to supply their own gear (clothing, props etc) for all rounds of the competition: 

1. Round 1 - Casual Wear: Leather
2. Round 2 - Cruise Wear: Spice it up! Leather/Fetish; shorts, short chaps, briefs, jock straps, and harnesses are encouraged
3. Round 3 - Formal Wear: Formal Leather or Uniform

1. Available for photoshoots at any time, during any event you are required to attend. Must sign a model release via our competition entry application form. All images to be used by Sydney Leathermen, Sydney Mr. Leather competition producers and sponsors in their marketing.
2. Available throughout the year, for Sydney Leathermen SLM events and sponsor appearances including, but not limited to
   • Saturday 4th March – Fetish/Kink Expo @The Paddington Town Hall (min 2-hour appearance, between 11am and 5pm)
   • Sunday 5th March – Victory Celebration @Stonewall Hotel (min 3-hour appearance, compulsory)
3. Conduct a workshop or Q&A at Studio Kink during their title year (compulsory)
4. Available for 2 promotional photoshoots for Sax Fetish:
   • Photoshoot 1: Approximately 3 to 4 hours
   • Photoshoot 2: Approximately 3 to 4 hours
   • Sax Fetish will provide a professional photographer.
   • Sign a model release form allowing Sax Fetish to use any of the images in their marketing campaigns or promotions.
   • As part of their prize, the winner will be provided with a digital copy of all post-production images approved by Sax Fetish, for their personal use (not to be used to promote other brands without written consent from Sax Fetish).
5. Work with Sydney Leathermen on a Fundraiser Auction:
   • Approximately one (1) month after the competition to provide a donation to a Charity of their choice.

1. 1. Will hold their title for a period of no more than 1 year from the date of the competition.
   2. They shall surrender their title, within 3 days of request from the producers of Sydney Mr. Leather Competition.
   3. Display an interest in the 'Leather Lifestyle'. 
   4. Encouraged to attend other Leather Kink events, local and international, without detriment to their local responsibilities.
   5. Are not permitted to use their title, for any commercial purpose without the prior written permission from Sydney Leathermen and the producers of Sydney Mr. Leather Competition.
   6. If there are concerns about adherence to responsibilities or misconduct while representing Sydney Mr. Leather. The winner may be contacted at any time and provided with 7 days to meet via phone or in person with Sydney Leathermen and or Sydney Mr. Leather producers. You must respond within a reasonable time and manner, or you forfeit your title.
   7. The winner’s sash:
   • Is jointly owned by Sydney Mr. Leather Competition and Sydney Leathermen.
   • Will be returned at the conclusion of the title holder's one (1) year term
   • Will be returned within 7 days if requested by Sydney Mr. Leather Competition and/or Sydney Leathermen
   • Returned in good condition and handled with care during the title year
   • If the sash is lost or stolen, the winner must notify and reimburse Sydney Mr. Leather Competition and Sydney Leathermen for the sash within 30 days
   8. The winners will be expected to be spokespersons for the leather community; to promote a positive Leather/Fetish image, to foster unity within our leather community and to be role models for those newly introduced to our community. 
   9. Winners must be inclusive and maintain openness, respect, and willingness to work with all genders, LGBTQI+ and Heterosexual people within our community.
   10. Must not discriminate against any person regardless of race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation while a title holder of Sydney Mr. Leather.
   11. The winner agrees and gives consent, without further consent, restrictions or approval for our photographers, videographers, website developers, sponsors, Sydney Leathermen and Sydney Mr. Leather producers, to use or share; photographic images and/or video footage of them to be displayed in print, social media, electronic formats, in-house and external marketing.
   12. If for any reason the winner of the title is unable/unwilling to fulfill their responsibilities, they will:
   • Surrender and relinquish the Sydney Mr. Leather title to the first runner-up
   • Reimburse Sydney Mr. Leather competition any cash prizes awarded to them
   • Reimburse any costs incurred by Sydney Mr. Leather competition, promotors, or sponsors due to the winner forfeiting their title. Including, but not limited to, cancellation or rebooking flights and accommodation.
   • Return any prizes or gifts they received as title holders.

4. Entries close: submissions should be made no later than 5pm, Tuesday 7th February, 2023 Late applications may be considered, under extreme circumstances. If you require more time or assistance in filling out your application, please contact info@sydneymrleather.au and we will do our best to assist you.
5. Your application to enter this competition does not guarantee you entry, Sydney Leathermen and the producers of Sydney Mr. Leather Competition retain the right to reject an application or remove a competitor from the competition and or title. For example:
   • Do not meet the abovementioned criteria
   • Cannot meet their obligations and responsibilities
   • Behave in an appropriate manner
   • Misconduct including, but not limited to unethical behaviour, bullying, harassment, or discrimination of; judges, competitors, sponsors or anyone in our community, will not be tolerated.
6. If you make it through to the next level, you will be formally contacted via the producers of Sydney Mr. Leather Competition and invited to continue your journey. If you weren’t successful, they will notify you via email and thank you for your entry.

Monday 13^th February 2023 @6pm / Studio Kink

1. If you made it through to this level, you will be formally contacted via the producers of Sydney Mr. Leather Competition and invited to continue your journey.
2. You will receive your contestant number.
3. The interview is worth 40% of your final score. 
4. Your written submission will be reviewed and updated if necessary.
5. Each judge as well as various staff members, will be introduced to you.
6. Your interview is private and thus not open to the public or other contestants.
7. Each interview will last approximately 15 minutes.
8. The choice of attire is your own choice, as physical attributes and attire are not judged at this time.
9. Only authorised persons are allowed in the interview room; therefore, you may not bring anyone with you into the interview. You are allowed to bring someone along to support you, prior to the interview.

Friday 3rd March @ 5pm / Paddington RSL Auditorium

1. Please arrive 2 hours earlier, at 5pm sharp, for rehearsal.
2. Competition starts at 7pm
3. You must bring all your stage attire to this event
4. You may not bring anyone backstage unless you have a disability and require a support person
5. We will provide handlers from Order of the Sydney Bootblacks to assist you.
6. The purpose of the 3 Rounds is to compare your overall presentation, stage presence, and public speaking ability to the judges and the audience. 

Friday 3rd March,  @7pm / Paddington RSL Auditorium

This event is open to the public and is a ticketed event, tickets via sydneymrleather.au, competitors enter for free and are presented on stage.

Judging:

1. 40% total score for interview & 60% total score for competition stages.
2. Final scores will be based on your pre-competition interview performance, audience response to you as a contestant and judging by your community representatives.
3. All results will be considered final.

Round 1:

1. Casual / Leather Bar Wear – Who are you in your everyday?
2. 20% of total your total score
3. Each contestant will be called to the microphone to answer questions.
4. There will be short shows and/or guest interviews in-between rounds to give you a chance to prepare for the next round. 

Round 2:

1. Cruise Wear - Who you really are, "show us your kink"! your very best ultimate pervert!
2. 20% of total score
3. This is your chance to show off your kinks and fetish! You may dress in whatever you believe shows your physique to its full advantage. Leather is obviously encouraged. 
4. Each contestant will be called to the microphone, you will then be asked to describe your ultimate fantasy scenario and your role within it. Possible follow-up questions may be asked.
5. When you've finished answering your questions, you'll have 20 seconds, to strut your stuff. 

Round 3:

1. Formal Wear (formal leather/uniform) - The Formal Leather outfit that defines you best.
2. 20% of total score
3. Personal intro - tell us who you are, what you're into and a little bit about your own story when dressed in your gear.
4. Pop Questions - expect to be asked a question about you, your leather journey, and your gear when on stage at any point in the competition.
5. Speech - you will deliver a speech no longer than 2 minutes to the audience and judges on a topic of their choosing:
   • This is not a thank you speech to all your family, friends, and sponsors, but something of significance you wish to share with the audience.
   • What can you bring to the leather community as title holder or what are you passionate
